A campaign for better looking apps!
Vast sums are spent on making ourselves look good but when it comes to software applications I have seen many that resemble an audition for a home-made zombie movie.
Not just internal or home-built ones but professional apps in the market place, some very expensive indeed.
Millions are spent on app development every year and they can still end up looking awful.
Does it matter?
Well in my opinion yes it does.
If you are selling apps then a well designed one looks like you have spent more on the quality and therefore the assumption is that the underlying functions will also be good. I ask whether I could trust the functionality if the screens are poor? Can a team code brilliantly but produce a really bad user interface? If your client relies on their reputation, are you helping them?
If you are using apps then surely consistent and well laid out ones are easier and more efficient to use? We often use them every day and a pleasing app does make a difference.
It doesn’t take much to spend a little time making things look nice.
Go on, give your app some skin care treatment.
